He was the lead singer of the groups P.O.T., Kapatid and Advent Call. Karl is the grandson of Senator Jose Roy Sr.
Karl was one of the most influential Filipino artist of his time. He began his career in the early 1990s as lead singer of the alternative group Advent Call then founded another rock band, P.O.T. in 1994, with the hits “Yugyugan Na”, “Panaginip”, “Overload” and “Have a Piece of This”. Two years prior, he formed a new group named Kapatid together with Nathan Azarcon (bass), J-Hoon Balbuena (drums), Ira Cruz (guitar) and Chico Molina (guitar). With Kapatid, they released the albums Kapatid(2003) and Luha (2006). 
Roy’s rock image made him a crowd favorite. He was also popularly known for his eccentric behavior while performing on stage. He was also famous for being an avid tattoo and piercing wearer. He had a wide variety of tattoos and piercing collection all over his body.
Did you know that Karl was very spiritual? He got into religions like Budhhism, Islam and Native American. He was really into Psychedelics and did Yoga. Karl was an electronics/gadget aficionado and collected knives but he kept on losing them because he was a daily commuter. He didn’t know how to drive.
